Langhorne, Pennsylvania | Age 87

Jerome (Jerry) J. Redington
Today, there is a party in heaven!
After 87 years of kindness, amazing accomplishments and devotion to family, Jerome (Jerry) Redington joined his brothers in heaven on May 16, 2022 after a brief illness. Born on July 14, 1934 in Kirkwood, MO, Jerry was no stranger to hard work, beginning with milking cows and goats for his family when he was in grade school, then working in the family plumbing business during high school. He then joined the US Navy in 1954 and attended the Naval Air Training Command in Pensacola, FL to become a Navy Pilot. It was his dream to land planes on an aircraft carrier and he served our country on the USS Independence. He graduated from the Naval Post Graduate school in 1967 with a BS in Mathematics and graduated from University of Rochester with an MS in Business Administration 1972. In 1977, he retired from the US Navy with the rank of Commander. His second career began that year as a Health Insurance Consultation and served his clients until his passing.
Family was his highest priority, with 10 siblings and 9 children, he had the patience of a saint and he stood ready to help with anything anyone needed from babysitting, to installing ceiling fans, to fixing cars, to giving advice about life insurance. He was full of stories and many "St. Louis sayings."
Jerry was full of life, riding in the 75-mile City to Shore MS ride each year for the past 16 years, with his last ride being September 2021. He was a servant to his community as well as a part of The Rotary club of Shady Brook (Middletown Twp.), Newtown Kiwanis Club, helped organize the Children's Home Society Charity Golf Outing, and coached Buddy Baseball. He has been a long standing, faithful member of the St Andrew's Catholic Church in Newtown, PA.
He was predeceased by his mother, Agnes (Schmaltz) Redington; his father, John Edward Redington; brothers Jack, Jim, Gene & David Redington and son Stephen Redington
He is survived by his siblings: Agnes Murphy, Denny (Judi) Redington, Rosalie (Mike) Duvall, Tom (Yolanda) Redington, Mike (Barb) Redington, Mary Ellen (Jim) Diemeke
Survived by his children, JoAnn Rodgers, Jerry Redington Jr.; Barbara (Brad) Taylor; Kathy (Dan) Grasmeder, Philip Redington, Ann Redington, David (Suzy) Redington, Diana Redington and his sweetheart Francene Plavner. He also survived by his grandchildren Tony Rodgers, Brian Taylor, Brittany (Michael) Newcomb, Danielle (Mike) Valente, Gabrielle Grasmeder, Margaret Redington, Avery & Noah Redington as well 2 great-grandchildren Reese & Lane Newcomb.
His amazing grace will be missed by all who have known him. He has forever touched so many lives with his kindness. Now, it is his time to celebrate his benevolence in the presence of the Lord; surely, he will be the first to volunteer for angelic duties!
Relatives and friend are invited to Jerry's Life Celebration on Friday, June 17 from 10:30 to 11:30 and to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA.
