Obituary for Diana A Corish

May 17, 1941 - March 1, 2022
Newtown, Pennsylvania | Age 80

Diana Corish (Bartus) of Newtown, PA went to her heavenly home after a lengthy illness on March 1st, 2022 at the age of 80.

Diana was born in Elizabeth, NJ and grew up in Linden, then spending her adult life in Hunterdon County. She is survived by her son, Christopher Corish (Mary) of Downingtown, PA, and her daughter, Julie Daly (Robert) of Newtown, PA; her grandchildren, Katherine (Kate) Daly, Emily Daly, Robert Daly, Jr., of Newtown; Christopher Corish and Sean Corish of Downingtown; her twin brother, Daniel Bartus of Vero Beach, FL; her sister, Julianne Pandolfi (Jules) of Brick, NJ; as well as her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of twenty-three years, Eugene Corish (Gene); her parents, John Bartus, Sr., and Julia Bartus (Shivickis); and her brother, John Bartus, Jr.

Diana, known as Dena to her family and friends, was a loving, caring, energetic, intelligent, and supportive woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, visiting them often and going to their various sporting and performing events. She loved having her home decorated for various holidays, especially Christmas, and she worked hard on her flower gardens to make her home that she built with her husband Gene a special place. She also had the opportunity to travel: her favorite places to go were in Maine, especially Bar Harbor and Boothbay Harbor; Spring Lake at the Jersey Shore; and Amish Country in Pennsylvania. She even had the opportunity to visit her brother Dan in Florida as well as to take special trips to Mount Rushmore; Branson, Missouri; and England and Scotland. She enjoyed taking long walks, gardening, bird-watching, reading, and needlework.

Diana grew up in Linden, New Jersey, with strong Catholic and Lithuanian roots. She was a graduate of Linden High School in Linden, New Jersey, Class of 1959, and the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey, Class of 1991. She met her husband, Gene, at a polka dance, and they were married in 1963. They lived in Linden until 1968, when they moved to Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Professionally, Diana had been an assistant vice-president of the Property-Casualty Statistical Division at A.M. Best of Oldwick, NJ. In her retirement, she often volunteered at her parish, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in High Bridge, NJ. Diana always enjoyed hosting the annual family Thanksgiving at her home in Clinton, New Jersey, along with various family parties. She was the keeper of the Bartus and Shivickis family photos and proudly displayed them in her home. She was also the kind of person who was always on the go: she thought nothing of just jumping in the car and driving off to visit her mother back in Linden and her sister in Brick. She also enjoyed longer trips to see her daughter and the family in Connecticut when they lived there, and her son and family in Virginia, where they resided for many years. She looked forward to going to her granddaughters' swim meets, concerts, plays and special events; she also had a lot of fun playing with her grandsons and their trains and cars. She reveled in cuddling up with each grandchild when they were small and reading books to them, and she was proud of them and their accomplishments as they grew.

The family wants to specifically thank the staff of Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA, who was so kind and caring towards Diana over the last few years.
